What does the Bible say about the prosperity gospel?
I do believe that GOD gives us what we need! Yet He warns us about striving to be rich... Remember the rich man, obsessed with his wealth, that builds a great barn to store it all... only to die that same night. The Bible is clear in warning us not to focus on temporal wealth... For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs...
Did we ever see Jesus seeking worldly gain and wealth? When he came to earth He did not come as a rich King, but instead He chose to be born in a stable with no place to lay His head. It should also be remembered that the only disciple concerned with wealth was Judas.
1 Timothy 6:5 King James Version (KJV) 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Luke 12:13-21 (KJV)
And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me.
And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.…
Matthew 6:19 King James Version (KJV) 19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
