Good morning.
It is a beautiful day here in Kentucky. I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year's Day. I enjoy spending these lovely days with my family. My husband has the day off work, and we plan to do a few things together today. Last night, my mother treated us all to a lovely dinner at the Ponderosa. We all enjoyed it.
They are giving a little rain for Kentucky this week. How many of you enjoy the thunderstorms in the spring? Mild temperatures thunder, lightening, and the sound of rain on a metal roof is so lovely to hear. Now the sound of rain on a metal roof is a comforting sound to me. There is something about a thunderstorm that brings a little bit of the power of God right to this earth. Our God is the God of all comfort! Not even the tiniest details of your life are unnoticed by the Lord!
Both beauty and danger is in a storm. I am reminded of the time that Jesus walked on the water. 22 "And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away."
The disciples were in a boat on the Sea of Galilee and seems a storm or wind blew up. This incident followed the feeding of the five thousand and Jesus had gone alone to pray and sent the disciples ahead in the ship. Jesus went up into a mountain to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. Then in the middle of the windstorm Jesus walks on the water out to the ship. The ship was already a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it.
During the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the water. When the disciples saw him walking on the water, they were terrified. "It is a spirit," they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. "Peter replied, "Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.." "Come," he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?" And when they climbed into the ship, the wind died down. Then those who were in the ship worshiped him, saying, "Of a truth thou art the Son of God."
You know, it is a wonderful thing to serve a God that is so great. He is the GREAT I AM! Praise be to the LORD, the God of Abraham!
There is a great lesson of faith in the passage of Scripture where Jesus walks on the water. First, it is that Jesus has control over the situation. JESUS HAS CONTROL IN OUR 'LIFE SITUATIONS' ALSO!!! Even the WIND and the WAVES obeyed Him! If we as believers will keep our eyes on the LORD rather than the situation that we feel threatens to engulf us, we too can walk through the STORMS with confidence in GOD.....to bring us peace in the middle of what ever storm is raging over our lives. There is nothing that we can face that is outside of God's control!
He will CALM the storms of your life and give you peace. Just trust Him and never doubt. You will never be sorry! When by faith we reach out to the LORD for salvation, HIS grace lifts us out of the sinking waves and storms of sin. Our faith in JESUS will make us victorious over ANY threats from this world or satan, regardless of the form they may take.
God bless you
