Most that preach standards preach them as a Heaven or Hell issue and refer to them as the "Old Landmarks" that should never be changed.
However, the "Old Landmarks" as it seems do change from generation to generation.
Just sit down with an old timer and listen to the things that were "Once" preached as "going-to-hell-sin"!
Red Dresses.
Colored shirts.
Bell Bottomed Jeans.
Radio.
Wrist watches.
Short Sleeved shirts.
Open-toed Shoes.
Dresses above the shoetops.
Dresses above the Ankle.
Dresses above the Calf.
Tie-clips.
Gold colored hair barettes.
A woman's hair worn down.
Women's sleeves above the elbow.
I'm sure you could think of some that are not mentioned. And that only further proves my point about standards pertainig to clothing styles.
The older generation does not like change or anything new so it is deemed as sin and placed on the list while some of the things their parents thought were sin are dropped.
That makes me wonder about outward standards, which set is the real set?
Which church has the real set since they all put a little different twist from church to church?
Someday maybe "Common Holy Ghost Sense" will prevail and Holiness will be measured by Character, Ethics, Morality and Modesty(in that order), not by fads and fashions that change over time.
Does anyone here have any long foregone unchangeable "standards" to add to the list?
