For it is impossible for those who were one enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
--Hebrews 6:4-6
Would someone like to share what they feel these scriptures mean with the group?
Some are asking....--does the act of committing any of these sins (listed by Paul) cause one to lose his salvation?
Paul lists a number of sins in Galatians 5:16-21 which will prevent a person from entering Heaven. These include: adultery, fornication, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, envy, murders, drunkenness, wrath, and revelries ....to name a few.
Discussion is welcome.

At first glance, it would appear apostle Paul (the commonly "assumed" writer of Hebrews), seems to be asserting that salvation is a one time event, and not something which is on-going. This is to say, salvation is not something that happens, then becomes lost for some reason, and can afterwards be reacquired by repeating the things we did before, for such would be the same as nailing our Lord to the cross each time we willingly commit sins against His commandments after once receiving His gift of eternal salvation. An example of one who has truly tasted of the good things of God, and yet who later willingly "falls away," and is unable to recover, might be one who is granted a revelation of the Oneness of God, but later denies the same and embraces a belief in a trinity. Or, it might be that they have even received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, and later denies the reality of such an experience. While I am not a proponent of the "once saved, always saved" group, nevertheless I am persuaded that salvation is for eternity, and can only be relinguished by a willful, conscious decision of the individual. It is entirely possible for one who has become the receipient of salvation to sin afterwards, yet God, being aware of the subtle, deceitful tactics of the enemy to distract the attention of even the most pious individual, has made the provision available whereby one of His chosen people who does commit a sinful act, can obtain forgiveness and thereby be restored to a rightful position before Him. This means is known as repentance, and is plainly shown within the words of what we commonly call the "Lord's Parayer" (i.e., "forgive me as I forgive those who sin against me"). Minus this means none could be saved, for we all commit sins after receiving salvation, albeit hopefully unwittingly. The sins enumerated by Paul in Galatians 5:16-21, if noted carefully, are ALL things which involve a WILLFUL decision by the individuals involved. This is quite different from committing such things as a sin of omission, for example. Yet, I am of the opinion that even the individual who commits such can still obtain forgiveness, however, it is required of them to repent of such things, and forsake them from that point forward. And, one MUST do such repenting BEFORE they appear before the coming judgment seat of Christ, for there will be NO forgiveness for such at that time! As implicitly stated by our Lord Himself, there is only ONE sin that cannot be forgiven, and that is the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. And, I am also persuaed that it is impossible for those who have not received this wondrous gift to commit this unpardonable sin, for they are yet ignorant of even what the Holy Ghost is. As far as we who have obtained it, we can rest with a degree of confidence that we have not committed this unpardonable act, for should we do so, we will suffer the same fate as Ananias and Sapphria, who immediately gave up the breath of life and died. Why would God find it necessary for one to remain alive who has committed such an abominable act against Him, for which there is no forgiveness?
