End of The World Sermon - Pastor Steve Winter
This is my text that I used for tonight's 03/31/2007 sermon
It should be available in audio format at
www.pentecostal.biz/audio
I don't consider myself a prophecy preacher, but one doesn't have to be a prophecy preacher to read the newspaper and notice a few things.
2 Timothy 3:1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
Have you ever noticed the churches where they teach that people live a life of sin but that they are somehow saved by grace even though they live in sin? They teach that no one can help but live a sinful life and they take some out of context verses to support that premise. They deny the power of the Holy Ghost! They have a form of godliness, they go to some church, they hold
to a "form" of religion, but they deny the POWER! They teach people that they will be saved in their sin rather than preaching deliverance from sin. It's the con game of con games!
2 Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
8 ¶ But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
9 ¶ The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 ¶ Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
1 Peter 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
We live in a time where there are eating and drinking establishments everywhere you look. People are marrying and giving in marriage (some over and over again). The world doesn't have a clue!
Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
I don't need to prove to you the similarities between the days of Lot and this hour in which we live. In some countries it is a crime to even preach against Sodomy and related sins. It is contemptible that rank abominable sinners would attempt to ride the coattails of legitimate civil rights struggles.
Sodomy has become an accepted lifestyle choice in this hour, just like in Sodom and Gomorrah.
How many of you think that the Lord will come for His Church in the next few minutes? Raise your hand if you do.
Matthew 24:44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Luke 12:40 Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
So what does being ready mean in this day and age? It means having obeyed Acts 2:38 which is the Biblical plan of salvation and it means to be living holy and full of the Spirit.
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Some may ask how we know that Acts 2:38 is the plan of salvation for everyone. Just just read Acts 2:39
Acts 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
"As many as the Lord our God shall call" doesn't leave a whole lot of "wiggle room" for the honest hearted among us. Also, why would anyone who really loved Jesus Christ not want to obey the Biblical plan of salvation that was preached on the birthday of His Church? I must preach this straight and pure. There is too much at stake to play popularity games with the social religions.
We baptise in Jesus Name because:
Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
We are living in the end times. There are so many signs such as the fact that Israel exists. Many say well there have always been earthquakes and famines and wars and things like that, but we have NEVER seen so many all at the SAME TIME in history.
The true Church awaits a great promise from God (remember here that Noah didn't get soaked and Lot didn't get half burned, the Rapture is before the Great Tribulation, but there is not time to get into all that tonight.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 5:1 ¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
2 Corinthians 6:2 (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
This is not the time in history to gamble with your salvation, planning to obey God some day down the road.
