THE RIVER BOTTOM RHYTHM BAND: Home In The Rock
Just in time for our first TV appearance on WLJC, "Home In The Rock" is a collection of of Gospel songs from writers and performers ranging from Old hymns to Hank Williams numbers. It should also be noted that the full band was not present for this recording, but in fact band leaders Mike (Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar) and Josh (Banjo/Finger picking Guitar/Mandolin/Harmony Vocals) were the only actual members of RB present.
"House Of Gold" is a good example of Mike's awesome attention to detail, adding the old country style vocals (as this is a Hank Williams song) in a subtle manner while still retaining his own signature style. Earl Scruggs fans may also notice Josh's similarly added licks from a classic Scruggs tune to the title track "Home In The Rock." "Go Home," an old Flatt and Scruggs number, tells of a drunkard's path to redemption via the voice of God directing him. This song displays both the Father/Son duo vocals of Mike and Josh.
